Hello and welcome, my name is Jemma Jerez and I run and manage JJ's VIP Pets. Our goal is provide premier pet care services for the North London area.
I have over 15 years experience of working with animals and training dogs. I now work full time from our home in Harringay, North London. We offer Dog Walking, Boarding and Training, Cat sitting and Key Holder services.
Having spent many years studying canine psychology and attending various courses and seminars I can help with a wide variety of canine problems. I truly have a passion for animals especially dogs and have an deep understanding of how they learn and what motivates them. The majority of problems with dogs are due to poor training rather than a problem with the dog itself. Dogs are not human and it is often detrimental to treat them as such, this is not to take away how important your dog is to you but it is important to understand that dogs do not think in the same way as humans do. Dogs are amazing animals and there is nothing more rewarding than truly understanding their doggy ways. I have owned dogs my whole life and I currently have 2 Jack Russells as well as 3 cats.

The information we collect about our customers includes: who you are, where you live, what sort of pets you have, what your e-mail address is, how we can contact you when you are away, whether you have any other requirements, and how we can best help you. We also from time to time take photographs of your pets for use in our newsletters, website, and other client based communications.
We keep all this material safe in our secure records system. It is not available for anyone else to see and we do not offer it to any of our strategic partners or indeed anyone else.
As required we keep a set of keys for all customers that is kept secure and safe in our lockable key cabinet away from any personal details. Keys do not have the address marked on them and are locked up over night. We also have an alarm system for our home, so there is no chance of your keys/address being at risk.
We may modify or terminate our services from time to time, for any reason, and without notice, including the right to terminate with or without notice, without liability to you, any other user or any third party. We reserve the right to modify these Terms

All shapes and sizes can be walked, I will collect your dog and drop him/her back home. Our walks are at least an hour but are usually far longer. I vary the destinations of our walks and in the summer months like to take the dogs places where they can swim. I generally walk no more than 5 dogs at a time and all are very dog friendly. Most dogs get so much out of being with a group of well behaved dogs and they always come back from their walk totally exhausted. Excercise with a well behaved obedient pack will also help with any recall issues you may have. You will find that if you have a problem with recall a few weeks with me will result in a much more reliable return. This is an excellent opportunity to socialise puppies and they tend to learn so much more quickly from the older dogs.
This is a service offered to owners who do not want to leave their dog at home all day while they are at work or out of the house. I generally ask owners to drop off their dog in the morning and collect them in the evening but if this is not possible or practical for you we can make some other arrangement. I am completely flexible on times of drop off and collection and have had drop offs as early as 6am and collections as late as 12pm. You may decide that after work you would like to go out, in that case you can just give me a call and let me know you will be collecting much later or alternatively at no extra cost leave your dog here for the night. Our days are filled with long walks, playing in our large garden or sleeping. The dogs have plenty of company as I am with them all day. There is plenty of stimulation and I guarantee when you get your pooch home he will be content, tired and happy.
I offer a one on one dog training service for those who would prefer dedicated training sessions rather than attending group lessons. Though group sessions are great for many reasons, the learning tends to be slow due to the number of attendees. You will find that something that takes 10 weeks to learn in group sessions may only take 2 or 3 in one on one sessions. One on one sessions will also be tailored to meet your exact needs, expectations and goals. My training approach is based on positive reinforcement methods which teaches dogs to enjoy learning by making it fun and rewarding for both owner and dog. I can help with basic obedience for puppies and older dogs through to specific behavioral problems you may be having. No dog is to old for training.
Most people do not realise when they get a new puppy how difficult and time consuming it can be house train them. Rehoming centres are full of dogs that have been given up because they are not house trained and the owners can no longer cope.
It can be very stressful having a dog in the house which urinates and defecates all over the place and many people find that after a few weeks of this they are at the end of their tether. Unfortunately puppies do not come hardwired to go toilet outside, as far as they are concerned it is totally natural to go to the toilet indoors, often preferring your nice absorbent carpet. The only place puppies will not naturally toilet is in their bed area, anywhere else is completely normal. Just as a toddler is potty trained so a puppy needs to be patiently house trained. I offer 2 services to help with housetraining.
I can come to your house and put together a training schedule, I will discuss how to go about housetraining your dog and will set down a detailed plan of what you will need to do over the coming weeks. There are no short cuts to house training and for a couple of weeks at least it will take your time and dedication, but if you are patient and dedicated within a couple of weeks you should in the main have a house trained dog. As much as we will be training your dog we will be training you to understand your puppy's toilet schedule. The other option I offer is where your puppy comes to stay with me for 10 - 14 days and where I will house train him/her. When you puppy comes home he will be on a schedule that will be fully explained to you and if fully adhered to should have no more than the occasional accident.
We offer a cat sitting, feeding, litter changing and medicine dispensing service to cater for all types of cats while you’re at work or on holiday. We will visit your cat once or twice a day and spend some time with them playing and giving them plenty of attention.
Our clients find this service especially useful avoiding the need for exspensive and often trumatic cattery visits.

Dogs are pack animals and do not to like spending long periods of time on their own. Many dogs can develop behavioural problems such as seperation anxiety by being regularly left at home alone. JJ's Vip Pet service ensures that while you are at work your pet is receiving the attention and stimulation that they deserve.
I do not accept aggressive dogs on either my group walks or for boarding, however if you have an aggressive dog then my one on one training sessions will be of benefit and we can resolve these aggression issues.
Some dogs can find the experience of being left at kennels quite traumatic. Most dogs that are used to living with a family find that the sudden change to living in a pen away from regular human contact very stressful. Dog boarding at JJ's VIP pets is a home from home experience. Your dog will still miss you but it will be from the comfort of a family home. Days are spent on big walks and evenings are spent cuddled up on the couch, your dog will be having a holiday at the same time as you will and you will come home to a happy and relaxed dog.
There are no short cuts to training your dog and training in some sense should continue for the rest of your dogs life. This doesnt necessarily mean sessions down at the park or lessons with a trainer but is the everyday way you interact with your dog. If you follow the techniques that I teach you and you are consistent in your approach then you will be able to resolve virtually any problem your dog has in the long and short term.
Puppies do not come hard wired to behave themselves in a manner that is fitting to living with a human family. It is up to you to teach it how to fit into your family which is where puppy training becomes essential. Puppies needs early socialisation and training to ensure that your cute 5kg pooch doesnt turn into a deliquent 30kg dog that jumps all over people, is aggressive to to other dogs and generally calls the shots in your house. My training will be a mix of indoor and outdoor sessions and will l cover topics such as housetraining, chewing, jumping up, excessive barking, agressiveness or other issues you may be likely to encounter. There is less time for a pup to grow into a confident and balanced dog than most people think and it is always better to establish good habits from the beginning rather than having to rectify bad ones as an adult. You can't teach an old Dog new tricks - well you can, it just takes longer! :D
All house keys are kept in a secure location, away from any personally identifying information. Please test all keys before handing them over. Visits are completed discretely so as not to draw attention to your absence
We accept cash and cheques.
We carry a liability insurance policy that protects you from any financial loss in the event I am liable of any incidents that may occur.
You will be contacted immediately and an appropriate course of action decided on. If you are on holiday and cannot be contacted we will not hesitate in taking your pet to the vet. We will always try and take your pet to your own vet depending on distance but failing that we will take them to our own vet, Hill's in Crouch End. Owners are responsible for all vet bills and are encouraged to have pet insurance.
